So yea uhm... Ignore that title, I have to put something in there so .....

Anyway, it has been a while since I last posted on what has become a lonely post-it of rants on the big bullitin board that is the world wide web.

School has been the major factor of course, nothing like a dosage of mid terms combined with a couple of projects to screw up a lot of your time. Not that school is the only factor but still. I suppose as to the other factors I can name "World of Warcraft", reading, and other such acctivities which elude me at the moment.

Tho recently I have begun to read more and stop playing WoW. After 6 months the game became more of a thing I had to do and not something I liked to do, at which point I stopped playing. If you can't have fun doing something then try to find a way to have fun while doing it or don't do it at all.

The last book I read was written by George R.R. Martin, and was part of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga, which was not what I was expecting but a great saga non the less. It's more political intrique then magic and dragons and what not, although they are a key part of the story, the focus doesn't lay upon them.

I think that concludes my somewhat "late" nite rant. Maybe I'll keep a more regular posting schedule from now on... Maybe I won't... I'll just see what happens.

Ah well suppose I can rant a bit now.

Not much going on really.

Have been keeping busy with school, playing World of Warcraft and reading lots of books. Recently bought the Shanara series by Terry Brooks and The Dark Magicians Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. I haven't started with the Shanara books yet, I have finished the first 2 books of The Black Magician's Trilogy tho, they're not anything exceptional but it's a nice story and it reads easily.

Whohoo finnaly got my schedule for next week :D so far so good monday's and tuesday's off long weekends here I come :) Thursday's are going to require lots and lots of caffeine :/ Got up early today around 6:30ish. For me that's freakin early, got dressed, took a shower, ate some breakfast, and went of to help my mom out at work. She works at the local theatre which was recently constructed and even the Queen was present at the opening so that was cool. She cleans stuff up mostly, she does a bit of management for the cleaners and stuff. Of course I wasn't 10 mins there or I got dragged of by this other guy who works there to help him move tables and chairs around and what not.

They have their own site, it's in dutch but it should allow you to get a image of what it looks like. It sometimes reminds me of the Sydney Opera House To view the Site Click Here, or anywhere on this sentence really.... ( when the page loads there is a small, far away view of it down at the bottom left of the background )

Other then that I seem to have caught quite the nasty little cold, running nose and everything BLEH! I knew I should have worn more then a T-shirt to work :/

So all in all it was a somewhat productive day for me. Tommorow I'll have to get up early again and help out some more make some of that perfubual "phat cash" so to speak :)

Heh still here ? Geez guess I should make a post or something then......

Wel... Summer's over :( There goes my free time, School is attempting to start up again, attempting because as usual nothing seems to want to work or go smoothly. I have no schedule as of yet, no syllabi telling me what to learn and when to learn it for. I don't even have all my books yet *sigh*. On the up side I have at least one class I might enjoy going to / learning for: Cisco Systems, it's like the basic course but then the basics of that, however it should be fun :)

So far my classmates have been ok, can't really say I know them at this point. I mean I have only known them for what 3 day's now, but it looks promising lots of people who share my interests school and hobby wise so a good start is taking care off. The real Classes start on monday I think anyway since I don't have my schedule yet. Other then that I've just been relaxing, reading, watching movies, enjoying the weather, working a bit etc.

I do have one bit of news.... well I suppose it's not news anymore now. A while ago my attention was brought to this blog. This is supposed to be Quentin Tarantino's blog it has like uhm 15.000 profile views as of right now. There are quite a few people who think this is a fake blog and of course when there is one side there is another so there are also quite a few people who think it is for real. What I think of it you ask ? Well it would be nice if it were the real QT posting there but if I think about it.... I don't really care. I am being entertaint by it be it real or not and that's the reason why I read blogs in first place.

Going to watch Kill Boll Vol. 2 Tommorow, I'm not expecting much, I think it's not one of Tarantino's better works. My favourite still is and always has been Pulp Fiction. Let's see other then that... Oh I'm now reading the 4th book in the Wheel of Time series by Rovert Jordan, almost 4 down 7 to go......

here I am home alone so to speak, the folks are off on a little vacation somewhere in the vacinity of Prague. And me and my sis have the house to ourselves. Well I practicly have the house to myself. My sister, stays out so long that it doesn't even count she often doesn't come home until 5-7 AM! and she leaves at 7 pm the day before..... so she sleeps til around 2 pm. Which makes her utterly useless in any matters concearning household tasks. Like today for example I got out of bed at 12, I had a late nite aswell the day before. I went on about cleaning the dishes, watering the plants, emptying the trash bins, vaccuming so I asked her at around 2 pm if she could do the grossery shopping since I did all the rest.

She agreed, I made a little list of what we need and give her it. So I went on about my business about an hour later I'm getting hungry and go downstairs to check out what there is to eat. To my surprise no shopping has been done so I go up to her room and ask when shes going to do the grosseries. Half an hour she replies, I figure 30 + 30 - 60 mins for the shopping I can wait that long, so I'll wait until she's back. And fair enough 30 minutes later I hear the door slam, rigth on cue :) at around 4 pm I go downstairs to see if the food is there yet, which it's not. Can't be long now, 5 pm still nothing and I'm getting bloody hungry, I figure we agreed that she'd come in everyday at 5 pm so we can cook dinner so it can't be long now. 6 PM she finnaly shows up but not with all the grosseries, she forgot the damn list I gave her FFS! So she drops of the stuff and is gone in 5 minutes flat. *Sigh* so I make myself something to eat, ahhhh food :D clean up and check how much money is left, abotu half is fsking gone, WTF!! No way it was that much grosseries !! Grrr.....

So today was the day I was somewhat dreading, a while back my wisdom tooth began to come through. Which on itself is not such a bad thing at all, however I had the stupid notions of feeling what it was that was bugging one of my upcoming teeth. So I started fiddling with it and suddenly *chunk!* I broke a piece off. Stupid... Stupid... Stupid... me :| So now I have a gaping whole in the back of that tooth and to make matters worse today I had a dentist appointment.... Fortunaly I've been giving some time before he puts on the hurting :) I now have an appointment on August 5th 1 pm to have the damn thing pulled, I'm so not looking forward to having a needle shoved up my mouth and into the upper parts of my jaw :X *sigh*

I'm not sure if you remember this guy:

It's ALF ! It's an old comedy serie from NBC, it first aired in 1986 and he's still as populair as ever :) He's getting his own talk show, I'm hoping it will be good, despite being 21 and not being old enough to have seen it on tv back then I did catch quite a few reruns.

Here's a recent "interview" with Alf:

It seems like every celebrity has their own sex tape these days this time it's Cameron Diazs turn, you can get it here you'll need Bit Torrent. Or you can get it off alt.binaries.multimedia.nude.celebrities with the header Cameron Diaz "S&M" Vid - terrible quality - yEnc "cameron-la.rar" it's 72 mb. It's not really a "sex" tape, it's her in a kinky outfit and she flashes her breasts for a while, not much to get all excited about. I'm sure it's all over Kazaa or any other p2p program by now hell you prob can't turn a page on the "www" without getting that title slammed in your face.

In other news, MSN seems to be messing with me, everytime I start the damn program my upload jumps to its max, and even when I shut msn off it still keeps pumping out data, so I installed a firewall and stuff, scanned for ad ware / spy ware, viruses but to no avail. So I'm leaving it alone for a while, I'm hoping if I ignore it, it will go away hehe :)

Oh and according to some important peeps ( judges ) at the world court in The Hague ( Netherlands ) the wall Israel is / has build is illigal and has to be taken down. It's always something over there isn't it, migth aswell be the dark ages there, at least then the casualties would be lower :| A day doesn't go by when some one blows himself up and Israel shoots off some missiles to retailiate or vica versa *sigh* they've got some vicious circle going on over there. Oh and did I mention they "might" have a nuclear arsenal *scary thought*, Israel has been getting away with all kinds of crap in matter of finance and other area's. I am fully aware the shit that happened to the jews in WW II but still that's 50 years ago and now look at the crap situation they're in, somewhat by their own doing. They can't help but live there, they were assigned that land after WW II by some one, apparantly that some one didn't mind pissing of the people already living there. I don't think they gave location to much of a thought.

A case of the monday's ?

Today I found out that baked mushrooms on a white bun, which made a bit crusty my baking it in a pan, is quite nice to eat. I haven't tried to put a sauce or anything on it, maybe next time I'll try some of that mushroom thingie that goes into a cake like thingie, heh I don't think I can get any more vague then that. I also got a GMail invite yesterday, curtesy off GWX.nl he had a couple to spare :) I havent' actualy used it a lot, because well I haven't had it for more then a day ! I have to say tho from what I have read and seen it looks nice, and simple in use.

I'm planning on watching Scooby Doo 2 this afternoon, the last movie was good for a laugh so I figure this 1 might be too. I signed up for the World of Warcraft Beta today over here, sign ups will last for the next 3 weeks, damn long time if you ask me. They're probably stalling for time to get stuff ready.

Sunday, Bloody Sunday...

Well Hellboy was somewhat worth it, it's a decent movie but as every one had already said before I watched it the end kinda sucks, it could have been done so much better. I also watched The Day After Tommorow, and to my surprise it was half decent, not at all the crappy movie I was expecting, which was good cause I needed something to watch.

Oh and Google Inc. is being a pain in the ass, I wanted to locate a certain channel on IRC and usualy I do that by going to this site XGoogle which as you can see is gone thanks to your friendly search engine google. It was quite a handy site, and it's not like they were doing anything to infrinch on google's search engine, I mean if they were going to develop something like that for google then I'm all for it. *sigh* ah well.

I also added a small addition to the Blog, In the menu to your left you'll notice a couple of new links, these are as you probably already figured out by the title, Blogs that I read, some are 100 % Dutch, some are 50 - 50 in Dutch - English and some may be totaly English, go find out which are which :)

Jobs and Stuff

So far not much luck in the job hunt, haven't seen anything interesting so far, or anything decent for that matter. I mailed some weird company about a job as "SMS Operator" which you can do from home behind you own comp, that be nice money making :) . If it turns out that it's a bust I could always go phone up some cleaning companies in the area they're usualy looking for people all the time especialy during the summer when they have to clean out all those offices and schools. It's decent money for decent labor.

Yesterday I tried to download the last few files of Hellboy DVD, in the end I was getting so pissed off that it wouldn't work. I mean first I tried updating the group so I could get the last files, about halfway it cuts off and starts again, ok fine, shit happens I'd say. Yea but not 5 fscking times in a row. And it was going at a pace so slow like 1/20 of the speed I could get. Then I tried 2 other programs waited patiently til they were done updating then I went on and downloaded the file. Whohooooo !!! Time to unrar the files and watch ! yea right..... somehow that program fscked the files up and they don't work >< then that other program through a bunch of fits and messed up too *sigh* So today I'm giving it another go and with a HUGE amount of luck I'll be watching Helboy this afternoon :| ( This movie better be fscking worth it !!! )

I've finished the last book, and as usual it was a great read, I checked the author's site to see how long I would have to wait for the next book, which is called "Chainfire" and will be a Trilogy as I found out, and it turns out it's nearing release. Well not "near" but it won't be as long as I had feared, it is scheduled for release on January 4th 2005. Which should give me ample time to read the remaning Wheel of Time and The Malazijn Empire books. Oh and btw Spiderman 2 was great :D

*Scratched back of head* Soooo, now I am on the last book of the sword of Truth series "Naked Empire". It probably won't be the last by far that Terry Goodkind is going to release, much to my enjoyment I may add, but it's the latest out after this it's probably going to be a year or so before he publishes another one. So afer this I'll turn my attention on the Wheel of Time books, by Robert Jordan, which I have only read the first 3 out of 10 out ( I think it's 10 anyway ) after that it's back to The Malazijn Empire by Steven Erikson.

I'm planning on watching Spiderman 2 this afternoon, should be good fun. I liked the last one, to my surprise actualy, I wasn't anticipating good acting and actualy following the spidey plot :). After I'm done reading I'm probably going to go look for a summer job, make some cash to buy more books. My parents been nagging at me for like what seems forever, to get a job. Despite the fact that I have told them I would, tho I have to admit I have been reluctant in making an effort, I mean who "really" wants to work during the summer anyway? Ah well, depsite being 21 now, I sometimes still catch myself in such "child" like notions, I am fully aware you have to work to get food on the table and once I start working I usualy don't mind, I've got problems starting up. I've got it pretty good, probably too good for my own good so to say.

Free time

I have too much free time on my hands :|, this is somewhat of a good/bad thing really, I mean I like it doing whatever I want whenever I want, on the other hand I often ask myself "ok... what to do now?" Lately i've been keeping occupied, as you probably noticed, with reading. However now I have come upon somewhat of a annoying situation, I've finished Book 5 "Soul of The Fire" in the series, but I'm missing 6 and 7, I've orderen them, BUT they haven't arrived yet while I do have book 8 !! Argh!! I did however read the "prequal" to the series, which was only a 100 pages or so, so that was a quick read, a good one but quick. I want to know what happens next.... :( I've also finished Book 1-3 of The Wheel of Time series, and now I'm out of those too so I'll have to wait til next month til I can buy more.

Besides that, I have yet to finish reading the Malazijn Empire series, And the FSCKING LIBRARY DOESN"T HAVE ANY MORE OF THEM !!!!! *Sigh* more money I have to spent on the next books, now I have 3 series I'm reading all at once, and I'm stuck...... *Sigh*....

Last nights soccer match was ok, we won so that's good, but it didn't really get interesting til the last 2 x 15 mins, and then came the nerve wrecking penalties :| Finnaly we advanche by penalties, the last 5 times we lost :(. We, as in The Netherlands, will be playing Portugal coming wednesday, I'm hoping for a good match if we win or lose. Tonights match is Tsjech - Denmark which should be decent :)

( Damn comics pushed the menu out of the way should only last this post tho :| )

I finished reading the first 3 books of the "Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. They're pretty good despite the somewhat lack of action in them ( That means I'll have to buy 7 more books :|, reading costs to damn much :( ), unlike the "Swordt of Truth" books by Terry Goodkind. Speaking of which last monday I ordered thr remaining Sword of truth books that were out, and yesterday some of them arrived, still waiting on 2 of them. And what surprised me is that the last book "Naked Empire" is almost twice the size of the other books, and I don't mean in pages, but actual size, the damn thing stands out like a circus clown at an opera :|. So I went and checked if I maybe ordered the wrong version or something, but nope it says paperback, and it is kinda...... ( Now I also get a joke by Greg Dean the creater of Real Life Comics from a while ago see here) )

So onto Book 4 "Temple of the Winds" it is :) It's not like I got anything better to do at the moment anyway.

South Korea is in shock after one of its nationals was beheaded by Islamic terrorists in Iraq. It was unbearable news for the family of 33-year old Kim Sun-il, who had been given hope just hours earlier when they were told that the militants had dropped their demands. The terrorists had threatened to decapitate Kim if South Korea did not cancel plans to send an extra 3,000 troops to Iraq and pull out its existing 670 soldiers there.

Kim's body was discovered by American troops outside Baghdad yesterday.

He had been working as an Arabic translator for a Korean firm in Iraq for about a year when he was kidnapped on June 17. On Monday, video footage of Kim pleading for his life was aired on Arabic television.

The Jordanian group Tawhid wal jihad, which decapitated American Nicholas Berg last month, has claimed responsibility.

In an unusually brief television appearance, South Korean president Roh Moo-hyun strongly denounced the execution calling it an inhumane criminal act.

He said he is standing firm on his decision to deploy 3,000 more troops in Iraq.

It is a tough but crucial decision for Seoul to support its ally Washington which itself has more than 37,000 troops in South Korea to deter the North.

4 Day's

So it's been 4 day's without a post, has to be the longest break since well I started I guess. I've been having one of those annoying background headaches, they're not very painfull but they hang around for a few days. So I've been staying clear of my comp to avoid getting a more serious headache. Been reading my books lately again, finished the 2nd book of the series written by Steven Erikson, also finished The Da Vinchi Code by Dan Brown ( very nice read for a non fantasy book ). Besides that I finsihed book 3 in the sword of Truth series, now my wish list at Bol contains around 20 books :| I've also started in book 1 of the Wheel of Time series, I'm about 300 pages into it and it's ok so far, the story is building up nicely.

Let's see what else, oh yea yesterday's fiasco, despite it being a good match between Netherlands and Tjesch Rep. we should have won! We we're 2 - 0 ahead. It all went downhill after our coach switched a good player, for a lesser player, Robben for Bosvelt I believe which turned out rather disastarous in the end, we lost 2 - 3. And now have to wait and see if we can go forth into the next round.

Today my sister had a nice little surprise, she is taking care of a young kitten, 6 weeks old, rather cute :) It pretty much slept on me all day. Our other 2 cats are somewhat intimidated by it, they stay a good 3 foot away at all times if not more hehe

Movies

I grabbed Shrek 2, The Chronicles of Riddick and The Whole 10 Yards of usenet yesterday. I liked the original shrek and Shrek 2 was just as good, if not better, I especialy liked the pinochio thing in the jail :) The animation was as good as always I'd give it a good 8/10 overall.

The Chronicles of Riddick was ok, the story seemed to take somewhat of a background to all the action tho. But the action was nice so it was still a good movie. Tho I wished they would have elaborated on the war between Riddicks people and the Necromancers, that should have been interesting. They left somewhat of an open ending to allow the option of a sequal I guess, which I wouldn't mind seeing :) What I also liked was the "Elementals" it kinda reminded me of Dune for some reason.

I'm currently watching the Whole 10 yards, so far it's been decent, I liked the previous movie "The Whole 9 Yards" with the same cast so this 1 should be entertaining aswell.
My sisters been nagging at me to let her behind the comp so she can MSN stuff I guess, she's been without Internet to her own comp since wednesday, it should be back up today / tommorow and then she can finnaly leave me alone :D

Random Ranting

Like there's any other kind. Anyway I was going to watch garfield, and I did kinda... You see CD 1 worked fine, but then CD 2 was nothing :|. Don't think I'll go find another version tho, the movie kinda sucked. I mean it's Garfield but it's also not... You probably have to see the movie to know what I mean :|. Yesterday's soccer match ( England vs France ) was quite entertaining especialy the last 3 minutes of overtime, 2 goals by Zinedine Zidane, the bugger scored twice in 90 seconds, 1 from a nice free kick and 1 from a penalty. England maintained the lead for a good 50 minutes, after a missed penalty by David Beckham. I also watched Van Helsing, nich action flick but that's it tho, I had hoped for a better story but alass. I managed to grab a nice Harry Potter 3 release from Chakra aswell, am tempted to burn it onto cd for my sis.

I finnaly got pissed enough at my Stereo to rip one of the cd's I was trying to listen to by R.E.M, it's an old one, 1991 if I'm not mistaken, with the 2 hits "Shiny Happy people" and "Loosing my Religion" the rest of the tracks are pretty decent aswell.

Nothing much going on, finished Book 3 "Blood of the Fold" yesterday now reading that library book, I managed to fix an issue with my newsgroup client so I'm downloading happily again. Have to catch up for like a week or so :|. Going to watch the new Garfield movie this afternoon see if it's any good, I have been hearing a lot of bad things about it. Other then that, well... I did manage to get a glimpse of the soccer matches yesterday last time I checked Greeze beat Portugal by 2 - 1 and Spain just scored 1 -0 against Russia. 2 more matches today, not sure which ones but we'll see, it won't really get interesting til I think thursday when The Netherlands vs Germany match begins :)

I seem to be reading to fast for my own good :| I have read through the 2nd book which consisted of 900 pages and am now 200 pages into the 3rd and have only 400 pages to go. So 400 pages until I have run out of books covering this series :( and have to order more, which unfortunaly I do not have the money for til the end of the month. Bah, tho I did pick up a sequal to another book I was reading from the library, that should hold me until I can order new books. If not I always have "The Davinci Code" to read. I won't start on the Wheel of Time series yet that would be a little to much, reading 3 series at once. I seem to have developed quite the craving to read lately, usualy I just watch movies as of late I have barely even touched the tv or computer for that matter.

I finished the First book in the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind yesterday. It was a good read, I think I read about 700 pages or so yesterday, I just couldn't put it down. I definatly reccomend this book to any one who enjoyes a good Fantasy story the likes of Tolkiens works. Today I'll start on Book 2 called " The Stone of Tears ", let's hope it will be just as good :).

While I was reading yesterday I burned of a good number of DVD's I had on my Hard drive, I've now got a whoopin 130 GB of free space :D That should hold me for a while :). I want to get a summer job soon, make some money, buy nice stuff and such when I get paid. I have been looking in the papers for a while now, nothing decent has come up, I'm hoping something will come soon, if not I'll pop into some Temp angencies and see what they got.

As for the title of this post it's a book written by Adam Douglas, part of the Hitchiker's Guide to The Galaxy :)

It's great weather outside, a little "too" great if you ask me, personaly I don't care much for high temperatures. I'd rather have it snowing or something, I'm sweating real bad :| . Ah well according to the weather report it should only be for a day or 2. Today I'll be spending my time behind the comp burning off DVD's, I think I have to burn off about 20 or so, 30 minutes a dvd so a good 10 hours of burning. Meanwhile I can read some more, I am currently reading the first book in the "Sword of Truth" series, am only about 100 pages into it, but it's been a good read so far.

Remember when I said I lost all my games the other day ? You don't.... oh well, anyway yesterday a friend came over and as always while he was here we downloaded / burned a few games for him. We ended up with about 10 GB worth of stuff, games like Colin Mcrea Rally 4 , Need for speed: Underground, Rise of Nations, Hard Truck 2, Roland Gaross, FIFA 2004, UEFA 2004, Worms 3D, Thief III: Deadly Shadows, Syberia 2, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and we picked up an copy of Office 2003 :) All in all I'd say it had been a productive day.

As he sat quietly around the small fire he had created from branches and dry moss that had been lying around in the cave so conveniently. He said to himself “nicely done”, finding such a nice shelter. He stretched his hands out towards the fire, feeling its warmth wrapping around his hands and warming the blood inside, which in turn flowed throughout his body, giving him a tingling sensation. It almost seemed peaceful, as he leaned back and looked towards the entrance of the cave. The rain was pouring down outside, accompanied by the occasional lightning flash followed by loud thunder. There was a certain tranquility in the air. After a while his attention turned towards his clothes, he was never going to warm up with these wet clothes on. First he took of his boots, they were old workers boots, they looked like they had seen many roads, the sides had holes and cracks in them. Nothing a decent working man would want to be seen in.
To him however these were a real treat, he had managed to tie them to his feet with some thread he had found earlier. His old ones were totally worn down, and walking on anything but soft ground was beginning to be painful. So you can imagine how excited he had been when he found them. Nothing wrong with them he said to himself as he pulled his feet out and put them beside the fire. Next where his pants and vests, he always wore 2 pair of each. That was barely enough to keep him warm on cold days so on those he wore 4. While they lay beside the fire, he noticed how plain they were, nothing like he had worn back home, “Ah home…” he sighed, it really is like they say “There’s no place like it”.

He remembered how back home on T’anok, he never had a care in the world, but that something always felt missing, because of this he had done many things that would not be considered proper behavior for his class. He had hung out with workers, got drunk, neglected studies, he even got into a fight or 2, he remembered how furious his guardians had been with him, socializing with the working class, what was he thinking they had said. As punishment they had sent him to a boarding school for the misbehaving, this was a place where you would get send if you did not think along the same lines as the rest of the island. The teachers where incredibly strict and were allowed to, as only ones on the island, to use physical punishment as a deterrent. At first he had hated his guardians for sending him to such an awful place, he had tried to escape 3 times before he had given up and decided it was best to minimize the damage this place would do to him for the duration he had to be there.
It was not until his second semester that he had found something that sparked his interest in the library, the interesting thing had been a map called “The Island and Beyond”.
The reason why it had been interesting was because of the latter part of the title: “and beyond” every T’anokian had learnt since they were small that T’anok was the last remaining piece of civilization that was left standing after, well to be honest no one really had a clue as to what had happened. One day trading merchants just started coming back with reports that when they had docked at once familiar harbors, which used to be full of people from around the world, there would be no one for miles. The few expeditions that were sent to investigate turned up nothing conclusive, all came back with reports stating the same; people were gone, missing, vanished into thin air. Nothing seemed to be damaged, there were no bodies found, it was like one moment they were there, the next they were gone.

Now as I could not help him with this, but I did have some other decent sites he may not know about I decided to mail him. And to my surprise I actual got an E-mail back saying thx for the sites and the mail. Kinda made my day, kinda silly isn't it ?

Got an E-mail from Bol this morning stating that the other books I ordered have been sent ( bout frigging time! ). Last time the package got here within a day or was it the same day... anyway I'm looking forward to their arrival.

A local TV station will start airing Stargate: SG-1 one of my all time favourites tv shows, it ranks up there alongside Farscape, FireFly and most Trek series. They're starting again from episode 1, which is both good and bad, lots of people want to see where a different station stopped airing it, however this will give new viewers a good start instead of being dropped into the middle of the series. Personaly I've seen season 1 through 7 already so to me it doesn't matter that much, the only reason I have already seen them is because after another station stopped airing it in the middle of season 4. I couldn't wait for it to start again so I went online and downloaded what episodes where already out and kept up with the new ones when they aired. However for the people that have already watched all these episodes ( and didn't do as I did ) they will have to wait quite some time before the "new" episodes start airing.

European elections: I took a little test to see what I should vote here "Stemwijzer" it's only for dutch people. And it told me to vote for a party called D66, but I'm not sure I should vote that way, because with some of the questions asked in the test I wasn't aware as to what they exactly meant or what the implications would be. I guess I'll have to read up a bit and then take the test again.

And on a different note I seem to have fallen back to an old habit of mine, namely Counter-Strike, I quit a couple of months ago ( That was like what the 5th time I quit ? ) but it keeps pulling me back in. I've only been playing a certain map for now, in case you're a CS'er too it was "Scoutzknive". Before I quit I was in a nice clan ( US/CAN ) for a year or 2 and had tons of fun playing, tho more recently all the old members started playing less and less, not to mention Valve screwing the game up with the 1.6 patch.... ( Bring back 1.3 !! ) Ah well I guess I'll see how long it lasts this time before I have had enough.

Oh and in case you were wondering this was the clan I was in [FoD] I went under the name "Ezikeil". They're all nice people so if you're in search for a clan with some friendly folks, there you go.

So today I'm sitting behind my computer in my room as usual. And suddenly out the corner of me eye I can see 2 black flashes outside my window. Rather bored at the time and somewhat intriqued into what the flashes may have been, I stick my head out the window. Not even a second has passed since I have done that and something drops down from above, I can't quite make it out during its fall.

The cats lying in the sun in the backyard scramble for cover when it hits the pavement. Now that it has stopped moving I can get a better look at it, it turns out to be a somewhat young bird. I have no idea what caused it to fall like that, but now it's dead, kinda sad. It probably broke it's neck on the fall. That's nature for ye.

50 First Dates

I was browsing FTD's FTD3 program, it's kinda like a big indexer of everything that has or is going to get posted to usenet ( newsgroups ) by certain people. And my eye fell on this title, to my surprise this was a Adam Sandler movie, I have enjoyed several of his movies i.e. Happy Gimore, Little Nicky. So I went on to download it.

* A couple of hours later....*

This was not the kind of movie I was expecting, I liked it tho. This movie was a bit more serious then I am used to seeing him in. Character wise there were a few surprises, They guy that played "Sam" ( Sean Astin ) in Lord of the Rings played the part of "The Brother" who had a little steroid / speech impetement problem. Then Rob Sneider showed up as the somewhat messed up local . A while into the movie, Dan Akroyed ( Personaly I loved him in the Blues Brother movies ) showed up as a doctor. And of course Drew barrymore who performed the role of Lucy surprisingly well, showing that she ranks up there with the best female actresses of today.

All in all it was a good movie, I'd give it a 7.5/10.

I've been playing Astrowars lately, it's an free online game, no downloads required or anything. Takes maybe 15-30 minutes a day to play. It's quite addicting, give it a try if you want. Yesterday evening I found myself without something to do and at some point I decided I wanted to read a good book. So I started looking around and came to the conclusion that I don't own a lot of books. Let alone ones that I haven't already read multiple times. So today I browsed through Bol which has a assortment of books. Then I read a bit around a forum which I visit and people seemed to reccomend "The Wheel of Time series" "The Sword of Truth series" and a book called "The Da Vinci Code" so I hoped on over to Bol and ordered me:

The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy ( Contains all 5 books )
The Wheel of Time Set #01 ( Contains the first 3 books )
The Da Vinci Code
The Sword of Truth Set #01 ( Contains the first 3 books )

They were decently priced at around 25 bucks per set, the H-Guide was a mere 20 and the Da Vinci Code a mere 12 so I ended up with around 82 $ worth of books ( 12 books total ). Now I know that H-Guide is worth every penny that I spend on it, I just hope the rest will be just as good.

To what kind of tunes do you listen?

I recently uhm.... "aquired" " some new tracks and found myself just repeating the same songs over and over again. Maybe that's my thing, repetative music, my father made that remark aswell the other day. Tho if I liked repetitive music you'd almost immidiatly put me in the group that listens to Trance, House and that sort of music. Don't, I hardly ever listen to it, I do like the occasional upbeat track but it's not something I would be able to listen to all day long.

Groups / Singer I could and something still am listening to all day are: Linkin Park, Queen, Paul Simon, Dire Straits. What surprised me is that when I looked at the list I found that around 75 % of the names were "old" groups i.e. the music your parents used to listen to. Maybe it has something to do with memories, I remember hearing the Dire straits and Beatles in the car on trips and on vacation, maybe I affiliated certain memories / feelings to the music. So the fact taht I like them could be abit nostalgia ( I wonder if I spelled that correctly ). It's widely accepted that a certain smell, sound or picture can trigger feelings and emotions.

Today I plugged in Linkin Parks : Re-Animated CD into winamp and I have to say I still enjoy listening to the tracks even tho most of them are just remixed version of their previous album "Hybrid Theory". I think I even like these more then the originals, not to mention that they had a really nice cover design for the album, and that the clips for "In The End" and the one with all the CGI were great.

Maybe I like the old sounds so much because they are a break from the current modern sounds that I listen to, I could probably go on and on thinking about reasons why I like them, I just know that I like them for some reason.

Hmm my attempt to somehow incorporate smillies into the blog hasn't exactly worked out well guess it's back to the drawing book.

Just a Heads up...

I'm trying to make those lines at the bottom of a post match up to those on the sidebar, it annoyed me that they didn't. I thought it was because I was tampering with the template but now that I think about it, it might have been like this since the start and I just didn't notice.

Science Fiction

I'm sure we're all aware of the current science fiction shows on TV, i.e. Star Trek: Enterprise, Stargate SG1, Andromeda etc. The current spin off from the orginal Star Trek series wasn't recieved that well as the previous spin offs, due to the whole concept behind it, and is in danger of getting canceled if they don't up their ratings. Now I was wondering the other day while enjoying the good weather in the backyard, what would be an "original" concept nowadays as a science fiction show? I ran some ideas through my head...

Being stuck in different dimensions? Nope, already done in Quantum Leap. Being stuck in a different Galaxy ? Nope, already been done with Star Trek: Voyager. Life aboard a space station? Nope, already been done in Star Trek: Deep space nine. Finding out what happened to a group of your race who set of into space ages ago? Nope, see Battlestar Galactica. Traveling to other planets while not using ships ? Nope, see Stargate SG1. A science fiction western ? Nope, been done with Blake 7 and Firefly ( damn them for canceling it ). Exploring the galaxy? Nope see any Star Trek series. Having an alien race come to earth for some purpose unkown and intergrating their technology in human society? Nope, see Earth Final Conflict.

As you can see this does not bode well for future science fiction series. I am aware that there are tons more SciFi series out there but most of those also touch on different concepts, Let's hope some one like Gene Roddenberry steps up and puts out some great series/concepts.

Sesquipedalian Ebullitions

Now you're probably wondering what the hell "Sesquipedalian Ebullitions" means, well I'll tell you it means something in the vacinity of Emotional outbursts.... I think... My understanding of the latin language ( I assume it's latin ) is slim at best. By now you probably have noticed that there is a link in the words, this does not lead to a translation but it leads to another blog.

While I was reading it this morning it pointed to a site called "God Hates Fags", like her I suggest you go over there and use their contact button and give them a piece of your mind. While I was browsing the site, I spotted a section called memorials and that's when I really went "What The Fuck?!". In my opinion this kind of behaviour ranks right up there with Nazism. I can't believe any hosting company would actualy host these sort of sites, then again they probably can't do much against it. Freedom of speech can be such an extreme thing, it's a great concept but then when you see these kind of things you wonder....

It's amazing how those so called "Books of God" can be called the origin of so much death and agony. The only religion that I can think of that hasn't caused so much damage is Buddhism, you know with the Dali Lahma and such. Then again I probably don't know enough of it's history to be sure of that.

Next year I'm starting my new computer science classes, so I decided I need to familiarize myself with some coding languages such as html, php, java to start with. I'm currently in my 2nd day of tampering with html and so far so good. But that's probably because I have only touched the basics so far, the hard stuff is yet to come. This is what I have done so far while messing around with html, all done in notepad, no fancy assistants.

Downloaded a good Japanese movie today, Zatoichi . I won't bore you with the details of the movie since if I do I will most likely spoil the movie for those that want to see it anyway. It's somewhat of a Samurai / Assasin movie, but kinda the "feel good" kind. I got tipped of about this movie at the place where I usual get tipped off about Asian movies. The place in question is called OMNI Forums . It's basicly a forum for people that enjoy Anime and post anime to the newsgroups, in this case only in DVD format. They also have a section for Asian media, you need to sign up for the forums to be able to view it, don't worry no ads or anything.

If you're unfamiliar with what newsgroups are I'll give a short explanation on what it is. If you already know you can skip this part. Newsgroups or otherwise known as Usenet is like a HUGE forum where people can leave behind messages and engage in discussion about their favourite passtime.

Somewhere along the line from only messages people started to post files along with it so nowadays everyday hundered upon hundred of Gigabytes of data or being send to newsgroups. Pretty much everything can be found i.e. Anime, Movies, TV shows, Music, Games and pretty much whatever else you can thing about. Usualy your ISP ( the company from which you get your interent acces ) will allow you acces to it. However in 90 % of the case it's restricted acces so there are companies that offer unlimited acces to them for a small fee. One of these companies is Usenetserver I have been with them for 5 months now and I have nothing to complain about.

On a somewhat sad note Full Metal Alchemist got licensed and will be showing on Cartoon network soon. I'm sure that it won't stop people from fansubbing it which is a good thing but it will discourage certain groups with higher quality of subbing to drop the series.

Apparantly we aren't all going to be boiled alive and die, Solar wind to shield Earth during pole flip , so much for Hollywoods next Doomsday movie :). Kinda cool if you think about it, having a backup ozon layer which pops out when it's needed most.

South Africa will be hosting the 2010 World Cup Soccer. I personaly am happy about FIFA's decision to award the 2010 games to South Africa and not to 1 of the 3 competing countries i.e. Morroco, Libya and Egypt. Although Eqypt would have been a nice too, but they aren't in much need of an economic boost as far as I know. Besides bringing an economic boost to the South African region, I hope that they enjoy the game as much as the rest of the world does.

It apears Pixar and Disney have once again come up with what looks like another fun CGI movie called "The Incredibles". I have watched the trailer a good 4 times now already and will probably watch it a couple more times before the movie is out. If you want to watch the trailer you can do so here. I only yesterday got wind of the whole situation involving Nick Berg, the american who was decapitated with a knive. I found out about it while I was reading Euronews I usualy go there for my news needs. You can watch news items there without having some kind of subscription like CNN. Unfortunaly for me I was stupid enough to click on the video feed for that particular story. It didn't actualy show much detail, it stopped at the point where it would actualy become horrorific. Which was a good thing because I don't need to see that. I wasn't so much affected by the video but by the sounds at the end of it *starts feeling sick*, I knew that Al Qaida were a bunch of F*cked up people but this really takes the cake.

I couldn't get the image / sounds out of my head all day, in the end I did find a way to get over it. It's not what I would call a particulary "sane" way of dealing with it. Then again as long as it's all in my head and I don't act on it, not that I could anyway, it doesn't matter much. I was imagining nuking the whole Arabic world just to get rid of that small percentage of people who interpretate the Koran in such a way that it justifies killing other people. I know that this has also been done in relation with the Bible, the crusades in the Dark ages were no picknick and they would kill every one not willing to convert. However I would think that in this day and age people would "smarten" up so to speak. I also don't see the point in killing an (semi)innocent person in such a barbaric manner. I am a little dissapointed in how much attention the media has given this, that's exactly what the sick f*cks who made this video had in mind.

Unfortunaly I don't see the end for this kind of behaviour anytime soon, eleminating such a fanatical group as Al Quaida might be impossible, I can pretty much say for sure that the ideas that Al Quida spreads won't die out for some years to come. If you take a look at other terrorist organasations such as ETA ( spanish balk separist group ) which has been around for at least 2 decades now, it's the same with HAMAS ( palastinian independance / palestinian state group ). You still hear almost on a weekly basis that some idiot blows himself up or that a car bomb went off. It's hard to understand the mentality behind these groups, I mean since when did commiting mass suicide get you anywhere ?

I, for one, am eagerly awaiting the day this planet comes to it's sences and realizes that there are better ways of spending our time then to "bash each others head in".

Nintendo showed a new Zelda game at E3 and man does it look good. If you won't take my word for it take a look for yourself here. I'm definatly buying that :)

A New Day a new Beginning

Ah yes, a new day a new beginning. The cat dragged me out of bed again, keeps scratching at the door until I get out of bed, sometimes I wonder who's the pet around here. Best not to think about it to much... After that I couldn't get back to sleep so I went about my morning routine. After that was done I powered up the computer and read my daily comics, I noticed Garfield had it's web site redesigned, looks alot better now. Sinfest was weird as usual, funny but weird. There a couple more that I read but I won't list them all now. 1 more day til E3 is upon us, can't wait to play the Guild wars "free for all trial".

Edit: It apears they opened up early so I'm off to play :)

My First rant.....

Hmm what to rant about today, not much happening lately... I suppose I could put down a thought I had today or yesterday... I think... Anyway....

It's about everything and nothing, it's about the stuff that we're all made off. Moleculs, atoms, protons, electrons, quarks. I was thinking: if I was able to see quarks with my eyes, like I see my monitor in front of me now, what would the world look like. I'd imagine you'd see almost nothing. My hands, this keyboard I'm using, my glass of water, my eyes, the air that I breath are all made up of tiny little particles. So I could see all the little quarks ( I am using quarks as an example, I think they found 2 smaller particles. However I have forgotten the name for them ) jumping from proton to electron and from atom to atom. I suppose you could compare it to standing outside in a really heavy rainfall. Imagine that you're standing there and you see all the drops coming down in front of you but you're vision of what you're watching is vague at best. Or another possibility would be that you would see everything, take water for an example, or air for that matter. It's all moleculs, all incredibly small particle upon particle and yet we see through them like they almost weren't there. We see the grass outside yet we don't "really" see the air that's between you and the grass.

Another thing about moleculs is that they seem to come with a certain density. Imagine a glass aquarium filled with water, now we drop a metal ball into it. Of course it will sink and drop straigth to the botom, and it will stay there. Every one expects this to happen, from when we were young we all knew that if we'd throw a rock into water the rock would still be the rock, just siting at the bottom of the water. If both the water and the ball are made up, when you break them down, of the same compounds, atoms upon atoms now why would that same metal ball when you drop it on let's say the ground, stay on the ground and not go through it. Density I think is the answer, the density of the ball and the ground must either be A. B.density = G.density or B.density < G.density I think anyway, I'm not that familair with the laws of science and physics but it's just something that came up while I was bored.
